As part of my New Year’s Resolutions, I’ve finally gotten around to getting things setup on the webserver for the Waxgears Studio website. For those of you who don’t know, Waxgears Studio is the name of my game development company. I still have a few things left to install and set up, but I made a good chunk of progress tonight. As soon as these last 1000 or so files finish uploading, I’m going to bed. I’ll post an announcement of the launch on the usual places (here, facebook, twitter, tumblr, etc.)

So another year is upon us, and I’ve decided to actually make some resolutions for this year and attempt to muster the willpower to make them happen. So what’s on the list? Here’s a breakdown:

2012 New Year’s Resolution List of Awesome

  • Get my most fleshed-out game concepts into some sort of playable state, if not outright finish them. This includes:
    • Robo Battle Pigs
    • Sprawl
    • Endless Tower
    • Episode 1 of EpicQuest
    • LaserSkull
  • Write my first gamebook and make it into an iOS/Android app.
  • Learn to draw better.
  • Start going to the gym regularly 3-4 days a week.
  • Become more active in the Winnipeg geek scene, and be less antisocial and introverted in general.

That’s about all I can think of at the moment, but of course I might think of other things to add over the next few hours/days. Hopw you all have a great 2012!

I’m pleased to announce that as of now, in addition to my writing duties at Moon Books Entertainment  I have now been given a position as a news writer over at OnLiveFans.com where I will be helping Ed and his great team of people promote, evangelize and otherwise report on the OnLive Cloud Gaming Service. I’m incredibly thankful for being given the opportunity, and I’m really excited to get started!

I’ve recently started developing a graphical adventure game with the author of the Quest text adventure game creation system, Alex Warren. Our goal is to create the game for multiple platforms thanks to the new web technologies present in Quest 5, as well as Alex’s new Quest-to-JavaScript conversion utility he’s working on. I’m going to be setting up a devblog on here to post updates on how things are going with the game, as well as discuss the features that we’re hoping to implement. Stay tuned for that, because the info will be coming very shortly.

I know, I know. It’s been a long time coming, and I’ve finally managed to come up with a design and site structure that I’m happy with. Content areas are still under construction, but will hopefully be finished within the next day or two. I will be using this site to showcase my portfolio of work in Websites, Graphic Design, and now Game Development so keep checking back as more stuff gets added over the next few days.
